Round 4 PC post with Dazai
Jun. 22nd, 2019 06:05 pmDazai's quarters can be found in the studio building. It's one of the doors off of the main hallway, not far from the stage itself. The door itself is labeled with his name. Most of the time it is unlocked, but he does lock it at night or when he's with someone else.
There is an open parlor area, with a couple couches and a low table. Off to one side of the room is a taller table with some booze bottles on it, all still mostly-full. On another wall is a door, which presumably goes to another part of his quarters, maybe his bedroom? And there is also a table and desk chair to one side, which appears to be a working space. All of the walls are lined with bookshelves, which are full of countless books.
Feel free to knock, or walk right in if the door is open.

Minus 20 points, I'm afraid! You've made all the hallmarks of someone unused to acting - pranking people, perhaps, but not acting! And it showed in the tiniest things - the lilt of your voice, the barest twitch of your fingers!
The attack was merely my way of verifying it - a man who is used to danger in the way a mafia executive would be would have a faster reaction time! After all, I also showcased my weaponry and that I can summon it instantly, whenever it's needed. A man who's in the mafia would then treat me much like I had a concealed weapon on me at all times, but I saw no trace of that wariness with you.
[That was delivered with the cadance of a lecture - and as he finishes, he spreads his hands out in front of himself, grinning at the man.]
...Come now, why are you surprised? Surely you've heard of me! I am James Moriarty, a man who managed to elude even the great Sherlock Holmes for a time, and the criminal who could only be caught by such a mind! To go up against me - well, it would be like going up against Holmes himself!

Date: 2019-06-24 03:12 am (UTC)And yeah, of course I've heard of you! But you know, the books never mentioned the magic butterflies. And I'm more of a Watson than a Sherlock, you'd have to talk to Rose about the Sherlock stuff.

And yes, I am grading you - after all, if I am to teach you how to be more convincing, then I have to set up some kind of standard, no?
no subject
Date: 2019-06-24 05:41 am (UTC)[No seriously, what? Of all the things he expected to hear, anything about teaching was definitely not even on his mind.]
So you just found out some guy is pretending to be another guy in a death-game, and your first reaction is to give him crit and offer to teach him to be better at pretending?

I'll return later, when you're not as infuriatingly childish!

Date: 2019-06-25 04:32 pm (UTC)[But when Moriarty comes back, 'Dazai' will have actually pulled out all of his reference notes related to acting like Dazai, as well as the novels and the dvds of BSD. Time to share information with Crimepa.]

Date: 2019-06-25 08:08 pm (UTC)...Hm. You've clearly spent some time planning this out - a good sign.

Date: 2019-06-26 12:30 am (UTC)[flip flip.]
From what little I've seen so far, you're doing a decent job at it, if not quite good yet. Have you managed to fool the two who know this Dazai?

Date: 2019-06-26 12:48 am (UTC)[He sets the notes down, picking up the novel and idly skimming through it, his blue eyes flicking back up to 'Dazai.']
Lucky enough for you, it seems. Impersonation is much more difficult when there's someone who knows the ins and outs of the person you're pretending to be.
...Which leads me to my first question.
[He closes his book, looking at Dazai in that same, intense, piercing way.]
Is what you're doing because The Foundation told you to, or is this more personal?

Date: 2019-06-26 03:06 am (UTC)[As for the other part, he hesitates for a moment before explaining.]
This game is more than just a containment procedure. Everyone is watching. What you guys do here, it's going to affect a lot of lives.
I know what the Foundation wants, and I know what needs to actually happen here. The real Dazai, he wasn't on board with fixing the results to get the best possible outcome. So I knocked him out and tied him up, and I'm pretending to be him for now. I can't promise you guys that you'll succeed at doing the right thing, but I can at least give you guys a fighting chance. With Dazai, you all were being set up to fail.

Date: 2019-06-26 03:28 am (UTC)[He mulls it over, quietly, as if he doesn't know what to say...or, more accurately, that he's lost in thought.
After a moment, he seems to come back to the conversation, straightening up.]
Then that is the reason for so many C-class. It's a way of 'proving' that even the higher up instances of 6350 are potentially dangerous?
[He sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose for a moment.]
Honestly - this is why that organization is completely incompetent. They have incredibly powerful people at their disposal, but instead of making contingency plans, they merely seek to potentially sweep it all under the rug! Such idiocy!

Date: 2019-06-26 03:52 am (UTC)They're scared, and they want to go back to 'normal'. But they have to have a justification for doing it, or else there will be infighting all over the place. That's why there's so many C-class agents here: they want to show that even the 'good ones' are dangerous. And that's why they picked Dazai: he's fucking insane and would have manipulated everyone into killing each other within a couple weeks.
But it's not right, and I had to do something.

Date: 2019-06-26 04:17 am (UTC)And then - he groans, before shaking his head and looking annoyed.]
And...That's it? They would judge all of us to the point of setting up a rigged game for the sake of quelling the fear of the unknown?
[For a moment, he sounds...completely, utterly disgusted, as if the concept is morally repugnant to him.
But after a moment, it fades.]
...I suppose that shouldn't be surprising. The members of this Organization, this Foundation - they search in only limited ways, taking only calculated risks. And while I am well aware of the benefits of such an approach...
[His eyes narrow, as he sets his hands in front of him, fingers laced.]
...throwing away all certainty can have an even greater result. ...You agree, do you not? That is, after all, the basis of you putting yourself at risk like this.
[It's...hard to break away from his gaze, that charisma of his feeling overwhelming, the feeling of spider silk clinging to the body...]
You have decided to throw away the safe bet, and place your hopes on us. Isn't that right - Mister member of the Insurgence?

Date: 2019-06-26 04:58 am (UTC)Oh Moriarty is a dangerous one indeed. For a moment 'Dazai' can't help but think that he's glad Moriarty is on his side, but then again, is that a for sure thing? Moriarty could betray him at a later date just as easily as he could cooperate. Truthfully, 'Dazai's' life is only safe as long as Moriarty has something to gain from it.
'Dazai' knows all of this, and he still trusts Moriarty anyway.]
Ahaha...so you know about them, huh?
You're right, though. I don't think you guys are dangerous. Or...well no, that's not quite right. It's more that you're not any more or less dangerous than any person from this world. You're just...people. I can't be scared of anyone for being a person. And even if I was scared, me being afraid doesn't mean you have to die.
But I am placing a lot of trust and hope in all of you. For all my best efforts, you all might still kill each other. I just have to hope that you won't.

Date: 2019-06-27 04:09 am (UTC)There is no Master to bond to, only his own terrifying mind and wits, and the connections and bonds he's already made. In this moment, holding the tenative connections of a new strand, he considers 'Dazai's' words, looks him over with eyes that catch just as much about someone as his eternal rival's.
Trust...is an odd, odd thing. No one should trust him, and yet, those eyes...
...remind him a little too much of a certain red-haired girl, who insisted he was a good person, no matter what he did.]
...Just people, hm?
[A part of him wants to deny it - he is a spirit, a dead man given life again by the mere fact that his legend resonated enough to have his soul engraved upon the throne - but in the end, he lets it die on his lips, unheard.]
You're truly the idealistic sort, aren't you? Even if we are just Fictional, as the Foundation says we are?
Despite that - despite our easy manufacturing and memories outside this world, you would still call us people and extend your hand towards us to help, no matter the cost?

Date: 2019-06-27 03:52 pm (UTC)[In that moment, he's not Dazai. He's John, the same John he's always been, and his words ring with the determination that burns brightly in his soul.
No matter how tough the journey is, he'll see it through to its end. Because people are worth saving, no matter who they are.]

Date: 2019-06-28 01:37 am (UTC)Those words, and those eyes...
'This Singularity won't effect the human timeline. There's no reason to save this world.
...Despite that, will you still do it?'
The girl in front of him - no more than 18, listening to the Hologram of Da Vinci speak - nods without hesitation, her red hair moving as if to underscore the fierce look in her eyes.
'Of course I will!'
Staring at John...Moriarty sees that same look, the determination burning there, just like it does in the same eyes of the girl who he calls Master.
Incredible. Simply...incredible.
...Without meaning to, his eyes fade into a much fonder look, as he quietly chuckles.]
...To think...that there exists someone else like her, even in another world...simply splendid.
[Closing his eyes, he nods - and then snaps his eyes open, holding his hand out to shake.]
Very well! If you are that resolute on your path, then I will do everything in my power to help you, and tutor you in the ways of Evil - even if it is merely acting!
